Dr Angela Argent (PhD)

Angie studied arts, psychology and law and taught humanities at Monash and Sydney University for 10 years. She was an honorary research associate at Sydney University while living and working for an NGO and university in Prague, Czechia
for six years. Her career has been built around a commitment to people, collaboration, social justice and growing inclusion.

Angie has had the privilege of working with a range of NGOs and universities for more than 30 years. Her roles have included executive positions with Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service Network, Community Restorative Centre, SMART Recovery Australia, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and the Student Equity and Disability Unit at UNSW. In her younger years, she held senior research/policy roles with Schizophrenia Fellowship, Mental Health Coordinating Council, Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Research Network, NSW Council for Intellectual Disability and NSW Aboriginal Land Council.

Angie is committed to evidence-led practices that create pathways to social inclusion and empowerment, put people at the centre of the conversation and are trauma-informed. She currently serves as a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal of NSW and supports the work of the Medically Supervised Injecting Centre in Kings Cross

She is delighted to be a part of the team at St Francis Social Services and is grateful for just how invested the team is in welcoming, respecting and empowering their clients, their compassion and tenacity, as well as their passion for impact.

The mother of three young adults and two eccentric cats, she reads and writes fiction for fun.
